Ingredients

  • 1 c. Onion, minced
  • 1/4 c. Salad oil,
  • 1 c. Tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. Brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. Water
  • 1/4 c. Lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. Bottled steak sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 3 lb (to 4) loin back ribs or possibly Meaty spareribs, sawed in 2 Strips about 4 inches wide

Directions

  1. For sauce, cook onion in warm oil till tender but not brown, add in the next 7 ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or possibly till of nice sauce consistency
  2. Salt and pepper the ribs, lace in accordion style on spit, securing with holding forks. Put a drip pan under ribs. Attach spit to motor and lower bbq hood. let ribs rotate over slow coals 1 hour or possibly until meat is well done.
  3. Last 30 minutes., brush ribs frequently with sauce and add in dampened wood
  4. (hickory) chunks to coals for smoke flavor.
