Directions

  1. Soak the herring overnight in cool water to cover. Drain and cut into 1-inch pcs.
  2. Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in a baking dish. Arrange layers of the potatoes, herring and onions in it, starting and ending with the potatoes. Sprinkle with the bread crumbs and dot with remaining butter.
  3. Bake in a 400 degree oven 25 min.
  4. Serves 6 as an appetizer.
