  1. Place apples in a buttered casserole or possibly baking dish. Fill each with preserves. Blend sugar and mace; stir in wine and vanilla extract. Pour over apples. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Refrigerate 2 to 4 hrs before servings. Makes 8 servings.
