%20was%20gifted%20to%20SL%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20slowly%20rebuilding%20my%20Philly%20bar%20(Didn%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20be%20branded%20%E2%80%9CAl[y]%20Capone%E2%80%9D).%20%20One%20problem:%20%20there%20are%20so%20many%20bourbons%20on%20the%20market%20and%20which%20one%20should%20a%20gal%20buy?%20%20After%20consulting%20with%20the%20Bourbon%20expert,%20Rifleman,%20I%20was%20told%20that%20%E2%80%9Cany%E2%80%9D%20bourbon%20would%20be%20fine%20as%20he%20felt%20that%20Maker%E2%80%99s%20Mark%20might%20be%20too%20pricey.%20%20However,%20in%20true%20Nigella%20form,%20I%20thought%20that%20it%20would%20be%20a%20disservice%20to%20the%20recipe%20to%20not%20use%20Maker%E2%80%99s%20Mark.%20%20Having%20never%20bought%20a%20rack%20of%20ribs%20before,%20I%20bought%20one%20which%20turned%20out%20to%20be%20rancid%20within%20a%20day%20(shocked%20and%20surprised%20that%20Genuardis%20sold%20that)%20but%20after%20discussions%20with%20another%20butcher%20and%20learning%20what%20happens%20when%20they%20shrinkwrap%20ribs,%20I%20bought%20a%20different%20brand%20and%20attempted%20the%20recipe%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20bourbon%20glaze%20is%20ADDICTING.%20%20Seriously,%20I%E2%80%99m%20thinking%20I%20might%20have%20to%20make%20another%20batch%20of%20it%20just%20to%20keep%20in%20the%20fridge%20to%20glaze%20chicken%20and%20everything.%20%20Nigella%20is%20prone%20to%20recipes%20that%20you%20can%20whip%20up%20the%20night%20before%20and%20leave%20in%20the%20fridge%20and%20this%20recipe%20was%20no%20exception.%20%20The%20next%20day%20we%20were%20treated%20to%20some%20amazing%20ribs%20and%20even%20though%20I%20terrorized%20my%20Cuisinart%20with%20attempting%20to%20make%20too%20much%20spoon%20bread%20in%20an%2011%20cup%20bowl%20when%20it%20clearly%20needed%20a%2014%20cup%20bowl,%20the%20dinner%20was%20a%20success.%20%20The%20camera%20was%20on%20life%20support%20as%20it%20fell%20in%20the%20leftover%20spoonbread%20batter%20while%20I%20was%20trying%20to%20clean%20up%20the%20chaos.%20%20Will%20I%20make%20this%20again%20%E2%80%93%20sure%20%E2%80%93%20but%20I%20would%20definitely%20cut%20the%20spoonbread%20recipe%20in%20half.%20%20The%20ribs%20%E2%80%93%20heck%20that%E2%80%99s%20a%20tried%20&%20true%20and%20I%E2%80%99ll%20probably%20make%20it%20with%20the%20Boston%20Baked%20Beans%20next%20time.%20%20Add%20this%20rib%20recipe%20to%20your%20repertoire%20%E2%80%93%20you%20won%E2%80%99t%20be%20sorry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%20ribs%20in%20a%20resealable%20plastic%20bag%20and%20add%20the%20other%20ingredients%20to%20form%20a%20marinade.%20%20Place%20into%20the%20refrigerator,%20putting%20the%20bag%20into%20a%20bowl%20to%20avoid%20drips%20or%20spillages,%20and%20leave%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20next%20day,%20remove%20the%20ribs%20from%20the%20refrigerator,%20and%20preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20425%20degrees%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPick%20the%20ribs%20out%20of%20the%20marinade%20and%20put%20them%20into%20a%20shallow%20roasting%20pan%20(lined%20with%20aluminum%20foil%20for%20easier%20cleanup),%20then%20pour%20the%20marinade%20into%20a%20saucepan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20ribs%20for%201%20hour,%20turning%20them%20over%20halfway%20through%20cooking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20ribs%20are%20cooked,%20bring%20the%20marinade%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20cook%20for%20about%207%20minutes%20or%20until%20it%20is%20thick%20and%20glossy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlate%20up%20the%20ribs%20than%20pour%20the%20bourbon%20sauce%20over%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Disclaimer%20%E2%80%93%20in%20my%20paranoia,%20I%20made%20a%20separate%20batch%20of%20the%20marinade%20and%20reduced%20it%20for%20the%20glaze%20rather%20than%20reuse%20the%20marinade%20from%20the%20night%20prior.%20%20What%20can%20I%20say%20%E2%80%93%20I%20get%20nervous%20with%20reusing%20marinades.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGathering%20The%20Marinade%20Ingredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Final%20Product%20%E2%80%93%20Hungry%20yet%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd,%20as%20promised,%20the%20spoonbread%20evidence%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPart%20I%20%E2%80%93%20it%E2%80%99s%20in%20the%20Cuisinart%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPart%20II%20%E2%80%93%20WHIRRRRRRR,%20It%20Mixes%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20%E2%80%93%20Part%20III%20%E2%80%93%20Spoonbread%20Batter%20%E2%80%93%20EVERYWHERE%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20need%20the%20new%20fancy%20Cuisinart%E2%80%A6%20(or%20so%20I%E2%80%99ll%20keep%20saying%20to%20justify%20buying%20it%20instead%20of%20a%20new%20pair%20of%20Loubous%E2%80%A6)%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
