Ingredients

Cost per serving $0.24 view details
  • 1 lb dry black beans (or possibly turtle beans)
  • 1 jar salsa (16 oz) (your favorite kind) water

Directions

  1. Rinse beans, removing any foreign objects. Place in a large bowl and cover with water and allow to soak at room temperature overnight.
  2. Drain beans and place in a crockpot with the salsa and stir. Add in sufficient water just to cover the beans. Cover and cook on low all day, 8 - 10 hrs.
  3. Yield: 10 - 12 side dish servings or possibly 6 - 8 main dish servings.
  4. These freeze well.
  5. NOTES : Usually I cook beans with tomatoes only when i want the beans to stay a little hard. But here, it cooks 8 - 10 hrs. so maybe it does make a something which can be served with rice or possibly as a dip with tortillas....[PatH ]
  6. An easy crockpot dish using just two ingredients for delicious flavorful beans without any fat. You must soak the beans the night before.
