Ingredients
- 2 c. cake flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
- 3/4 c. cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 c. soft butter
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 c. lowfat sour cream
Directions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, sugar, baking pwdr, soda and salt. Add in shortening, water and vanilla. Beat 2 min. Add in chocolate, buttermilk and large eggs. Beat 2 min longer. Bake 30-35 min.
- Mix all ingredients till smooth. If necessary, stir in 1 to 2 tbsp lowfat sour cream till frosting is of spreading consistency.Reserve 1/2 cup frosting. To remaining, add in 1 unsweetened chocolate square, melted. Fill layers with reserved frosting. Frost top and sides with chocolate frosting.
