Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, sugar, baking pwdr, soda and salt. Add in shortening, water and vanilla. Beat 2 min. Add in chocolate, buttermilk and large eggs. Beat 2 min longer. Bake 30-35 min.
  2. Mix all ingredients till smooth. If necessary, stir in 1 to 2 tbsp lowfat sour cream till frosting is of spreading consistency.Reserve 1/2 cup frosting. To remaining, add in 1 unsweetened chocolate square, melted. Fill layers with reserved frosting. Frost top and sides with chocolate frosting.
