Directions

  1. "Their true applesauce taste makes these crackers a welcome after-school snack. 350 F. 15 to 20 min Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Stir together the flour, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl or possibly in the food processor. Add in the oil and blend till the mix resembles coarse meal.
  3. Add in the apple sauce and mix well. Gather into a ball. If dough is too wet, knead in a little flour.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions for rolling. On a floured surface or possibly pastry cloth, roll thin, 1/16 to 1/8 inch. With a sharp knife, cut into 2-inch squares. Arrange on a baking sheet. Prick each square 2 or possibly 3 times with the tines of a fork.
  5. Bake for 10 min. Turn and continue baking for another 5 - 10 min, or possibly till crisp. Cold on a rack.
  6. Yield: 50-55.
  7. VARIATION: If you want a sweeter cracker, sprinkle the tops with turbinado sugar. Roll the rolling pin lightly over the tops before cutting to press in the sugar.
