Applesauce Oatmeal Bread Recipe
by Pavani

King Arthur Flour is my go-to site to buy quality baking ingredients and fool-proof baking recipes. I splurge about 2~3 times a year and buy specialty ingredients for baking and cooking. My absolute favorite is their Vermont cheese powder that I use at least once a week to make mac & cheese for my kids. Another one of my favorite pantry ingredient from KAF is their pizza seasoning blend. It gives the homemade pizza that extra oomph and flavor.

I get KAF catalog every month and that is one magazine that I almost read from cover-to-cover, but all it has is their products and recipes. I make note of all the new additions to the product line-up, just so that I don't miss out on them :-)

Today's bread is from one of the old KAF catalogs and I made it before we left on our vacation to India. I had some applesauce in the fridge that needed to be used up and this bread recipe came about. This bread is moist, slightly sweet and very flavorful.

Ingredients:

Method:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9"x5" loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mix together sugar, eggs (or egg replacer mixture), oil and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, combine the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well.

Stir in the oats, applesauce and chopped walnuts. Mix well to combine.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55~60 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the bread from the oven and cool completely before slicing.
