Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb head red cabbage
  • 2 med onion
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 med minced apple
  • 1/3 c. red wine vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp grnd ginger
  • 3 x cloves
  • 1/2 c. raisins

Directions

  1. 1.Cut the cabbage in half lengthwise and shred into thin strands. Throw away core. Peel and chop onion fine. 2. Heat butter or possibly margarine in a 3-qut.
  2. casserole or possibly browning dish. 3. Add in onions and heat, stirring often till yellowed, 2 min. 4. Add in sugar and stir till it begins to caramelize, 2-3 min. 5. Add in cabbage, apple, vinegar, salt pepper, ginger and cloves. 6. Cover and cook at FULL POWER 5 min. 7. Add in raisins and cook at FULL POWER till cabbage is crisp-tender, apples are cooked through and juices are reduced, 1-2 min.
  3. Microwave time: 10-12 min Conventional range time: 35 min
