%20Bon%20Appetit%20Sept.%201995%20issue.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20tried%20several%20other%20similar%20type%20of%20almond%20cookie%20recipes%20over%20the%20years%20but%20I%E2%80%99ve%20found%20none%20that%20compare%20to%20the%20tender%20buttery%20and%20flaky%20cookies%20this%20recipe%20produces.%20This%20is%20the%20one%20cookie%20that%20the%20Mister%20always%20ask%20for%20every%20year%20around%20the%20holidays.%20And%20if%20I%20could%20only%20make%201%20kind%20of%20cookies%20for%20the%20rest%20of%20my%20life,%20this%20would%20be%20the%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlmond%20Crescent%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20a%20little%20late%20this%20year%20with%20the%20holiday%20baking%20but%20these%20cookies%20are%20so%20good,%20I%20think%20they%20should%20be%20for%20anytime%20of%20the%20year.%20It%E2%80%99s%20not%20a%20difficult%20recipe,%20although%20my%20SIL%20would%20argue%20the%20shaping%20of%20the%20cookies%20takes%20a%20skilled%20hand.%20Not%20really,%20just%20a%20little%20know-how.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20From%20Bon%20Appetit%20Sept.%201995%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%C2%B0%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20%C2%BC%20cup%20of%20flour,%20whole%20almonds%20and%20salt%20in%20food%20processor.%20Blend%20until%20almonds%20are%20finely%20chopped.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20butter,%20sugar%20and%20vanilla%20until%20well%20blended.%20Combine%20almond%20mixture%20to%20remainder%20of%20flour%20and%20add%20%C2%BD%20cup%20at%20a%20time%20to%20butter%20mixture,%20mixing%20until%20mostly%20incorporated%20before%20adding%20more.%20Mix%20dough%20until%20everything%20is%20fully%20incorporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWork%20with%201%20tablespoon%20dough%20at%20a%20time,%20shape%20dough%20into%20generous%20%C2%BD%E2%80%9D%20diameter%20logs,%20tapering%20at%20the%20ends.%20To%20get%20a%20quick%20log,%20I%20first%20roll%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20ball%20with%20the%20palms%20of%20my%20hand%20and%20then%20roll%20it%20into%20a%20log%20using%20my%20palms.%20Lickety%20split.%20Turn%20ends%20towards%20each%20other%20slightly%20to%20form%20crescent.%20I%20use%20my%20thumb%20to%20help%20shape%20the%20inside%20of%20the%20crescent%20while%20using%20my%20index%20finger%20to%20bend%20the%20tapered%20end.%20Place%20cookies%20on%20ungreased%20baking%20sheets,%20spacing%20evenly.%20These%20don%E2%80%99t%20spread%20much%20so%20you%20can%20get%20quite%20a%20bit%20on%20a%20cookie%20sheet.%20I%20usually%20place%20them%20about%201%E2%80%B3%20apart.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2017%20minutes%20until%20the%20edges%20turn%20slightly%20brown%20and%20center%20is%20firm%20to%20the%20touch.%20Cool%20cookies%20on%20the%20baking%20sheets%20on%20cooling%20rack%20for%2010%20minutes.%20Move%20cookies%20to%20cooling%20rack%20and%20cool%20completely.%20Dust%20cookies%20in%20powdered%20sugar.%20Store%20in%20air%20tight%20container%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20up%20to%205%20days.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20I%20store%20these%20stacked%20on%20top%20of%20each%20other,%20I%20like%20to%20dust%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20cookies%20with%20powdered%20sugar%20since%20they%20tend%20to%20lose%20some%20of%20the%20sugar%20to%20the%20top%20layer%20as%20they%20are%20stacked.%20I%E2%80%99m%20very%20generous%20with%20the%20powdered%20sugar%20because%20of%20this.%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20storing%20them%20single%20layer,%20shouldn%E2%80%99t%20have%20a%20problem.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso,%20the%20recipe%20can%20be%20halved%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20be%20tempted%20to%20devour%20them%20all%20by%20yourself%20(which%20we%20are).%20Or%20just%20make%20the%20whole%20batch%20and%20share%20with%20your%20favorite%20persons!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
