Ingredients
- 5 teaspoon soda
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar + 1 c. white sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 quart. buttermilk
- 5 c. flour
- 1 T salt
- 2 c. 40% Bran Flakes
- 2 c. all bran
- 2 c. minced nuts
Directions
- Add in soda to boiling water. Cool. Cream shortening and sugar; add in large eggs and blend well. Stir in buttermilk, flour and salt; add in soda and water. Put together remaining dry ingredients and add in to first mix. Fill well greased muffin tins 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 min. Store remaining batter in refrigerator. It will stay fresh for 6 weeks when stored in air tight plastic container.
