%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20few%20Sundays%20ago,%20when%20we%20were%20waiting%20for%20our%20flight%20back%20to%20New%20York%20from%20Chicago,%20Michael%20and%20I%20were%20wandering%20through%20the%20United%20Express%20terminal%20at%20O%E2%80%99Hare%20and%20saw%20that%20there%20was%20a%20flight%20to%20New%20Orleans%20was%20on%20the%20board,%20and%20while%20it%20was%20full%E2%80%A6we%20saw%20two%20seats%20were%20open.%20For%20all%20of%20two%20minutes%20we%20toyed%20with%20the%20fantasy%20of%20getting%20a%20flight%20there%20instead%20of%20back%20home,%20but%20alas%E2%80%93practicality%20won%20the%20day.%20(Also%20helping:%20those%20two%20seats%20were%20gone%20by%20the%20time%20we%20came%20back%20from%20getting%20a%20bite%20to%20eat.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20while%20there%20are%20no%20immediate%20plans%20to%20take%20in%20the%20NOLA%20food%20and%20music%20in%20person,%20at%20least%20we%20have%20this%20season%20of%20Top%20Chef%20to%20live%20vicariously%20and%20recipes%20from%20Saveur%20to%20transport%20us%20there%E2%80%A6if%20only%20for%20a%20meal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBarbecue%20Shrimp,%20New%20Orleans%20Style%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPure%20luck%20led%20me%20to%20picking%20up%20the%20New%20Orleans%20issue%20mere%20weeks%20before%20we%20flew%20down%20there;%20we%20were%20going%20to%20check%20out%20a%20butcher%20up%20in%20Westport%20but%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20find%20what%20we%20needed%20there,%20so%20we%20ended%20up%20going%20to%20the%20Whole%20Foods%20up%20the%20road.%20Grabbing%20it%20on%20impulse%20as%20we%20were%20checking%20out%20was%20the%20smartest%20thing%20I%E2%80%99ve%20done%20in%20a%20long%20time,%20because%20not%20only%20was%20it%20a%20really%20helpful%20guide%20during%20our%20time%20in%20The%20Big%20Easy,%20but%20it%E2%80%99s%20also%20filled%20with%20recipes%20to%20make%20at%20home%20whenever%20we%E2%80%99re%20feeling%20a%20craving%20for%20good%20NOLA%20food.%20Now%20that%20Top%20Chef%20is%20back%20and%20very%20much%20set%20in%20New%20Orleans%20this%20season,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20yearning%20for%20some%20classic%20fare.%20So%20I%20decided%20to%20whip%20up%20a%20batch%20of%20barbecue%20shrimp%20as%20done%20by%20Mr.%20B%E2%80%99s.%20We%20enjoyed%20our%20barbecue%20shrimp%20at%20a%20tiny%20little%20wine%20bar%20in%20the%20Quarter,%20but%20I%20think%20our%20next%20trip%20might%20necessitate%20a%20trip%20to%20Mr.%20B%E2%80%99s%20if%20only%20to%20compare%20how%20they%20really%20do%20it%20to%20my%20totally%20modified%20Yank%20version.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20when%20I%20say%20modified%20Yank%20version,%20I%20mean%20that%20I%20cut%20the%20amount%20of%20butter%20used%20to%20finish%20the%20sauce%20by%20a%20third%20and%20Michael%20still%20ended%20up%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20a%20stomach-ache.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStomach%20issues%20and%20butter%20excess%20aside,%20you%20need%20to%20try%20this%20recipe%E2%80%93and%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20feeling%20particularly%20daring,%20use%20all%2012%20tablespoons%20required%20to%20finish%20the%20sauce%20because%20why%20not?%20Its%20intense%20spiciness%20will%20warm%20you%20instantly,%20and%20given%20that%20you%E2%80%99re%20able%20to%20find%20some%20fabulous%20shrimp%20at%20the%20market,%20this%20is%20something%20you%20can%20enjoy%20all%20year%20long.%20(There%20should%20be%20one%20barbecue%20recipe%20we%20can%20easily%20make%20at%20home%20year-round,%20if%20you%20ask%20me.)%20The%20recipe%20can%20be%20found%20here,%20as%20I%20dare%20not%20try%20to%20rewrite%20an%20institution%E2%80%99s%20recipe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20least%20not%20the%20first%20time%20around.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
