“Hush, Puppy!” Where did the hush puppy get its name? One story is that men often took their dogs along when they went fishing. As the men fried the fish the caught, the dogs got hungry and started barking. - 1½ cups cornmeal
- ½ cup flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3//4 cup milk
- Oil for frying
