About me
I love to barbecue and grill...I like to cook just as well! I started BBQing and grilling on a Weber Kettle back in the mid 60's and didn't get real involved until I started watching Chef George Hirsch's Grilling Show on Public Television way back when.
For me he is the greatest griller in the world and I currently keep in contact with him. He has sent me one of his first edition grilling books among other things. He is down- to-earth and will help folks improve their cooking & grilling skills.
Currently, I have three grills: A Traeger Wood Pellet Grill, A Brinkmann Charcoal Smoker and a Pro-Chef Gas Grill (Which I have had for over 20 years). It has a huge and heavy cast iron grill.
BBQ-wise, I like the Traeger Owner's Recipe Book as an inspiration & guide. No professional folks here, just good "Q' and general grilling ideas from ordinary people. Also, I like Cheryl Jamison's "Smoke & Spice" Book. She has allowed me to pass on her fantastic"Rub" recipe to my readers.
I am not a professional griller or barbecue person, nor am I a barbecue purist...Hey, I have a gas grill! What I pass on is simple recipes, plus I love to try new and different things.
Visit my blog @ http://barbecuegrillsplus.blogspot.com/ and share your cooking, grilling and barbecue experiences with me.
I spent a long time in the USMC..., it's very special! So, to all Marines..."Semper Fi!"

You're right. Not a lot going on for us pellet-fired grillers. FYI to any enthusiasts, the Stoven is moving from patent pending to patent allowed. Should be official by February 2012. Watch for more good things to come. We love ours! John, www.thepelletbbqgriller.com and www.americansundancer.com -
- May 13, 2011Hello, Thom - I more than willin' to be grillin' with you! There is not too much cooking that is outside the realm of the grill, so keep up the good work, let's share and compare and enjoy what we do in the outdoor kitchen. Best regards, Amos
- March 26, 2011Looking forward to reading your blog. Hoping to learn some things - I haven't barbecued in years but I recently acquired an old natural gas grill I'm hoping to get some use out of. A good cleaning and I think it's ready to go.
- August 22, 2010Wow, sorry to hear you almost quit your blog! Blogging can be a lot of work and if you have more than one like I do...let's just say I think I understand. I'm glad you decided to stick it out, though. :>)
Thanks for visiting my blog! As you saw, it is the same blog--I had to change the name because someone else was using the name as a website and they had a fan page on facebook like I did. Imagine how confusing that could have been...two fan pages called "Love With Food." Funny thing is she even requested I join her page...lol (I haven't joined yet but I will). I knew then that it was time to change the name. It was a heck of a lot of work, too, but I had no choice and I'm happy with the new name. - August 21, 2010Hi Thom, just stopping by to say HELLO! Also, I wanted to let you know that I've changed the name of my blog from Love With Food to Seasoned & Stirred! The new url is http://seasonedandstirred.blogspot.com.1 reply
Hope all is well with you and your family! Take care. :>) ~ Lynn Turner- August 21, 2010Thanks Lynn for the nice note! I will certainly go over to your new blog and check it out. Almost quit my blog...in fact I terminated it, but on Blogspot you can bring it back as long as you do it within 90 days. Now, I'm glad that I stuck it out.
Best to you!
Thom
