About me
I'm an American who fell in love with food writing and photography while i lived in France. Living in France in turn made me move to Brazil where i now live, cook, write and photograph. What is the focus? French/American/Brazilian food, witty prose, and anything that could be considered entertainment. I owe where i am today to many influential people, but above everyone, i owe everything to cod.
Cooking Influences
Anthony Bourdain- I would say not so much my cooking influence, but rather my writing influence.
France- I lived in Paris for a year and fell in love with all things French cuisine, particular French pastry (macarons) and French style bistro food and wine. When i create desserts they are undoubtedly patterned from French influence.
Cod- This refers both to the small country on the Iberian peninsula and the giant Portuguese colonized mammoth in South America. Because of cod i spent time in Portugal looking for Portuguese cuisine, and fell in love with the odd, seemingly unattractive yet delicious characteristic of Portuguese cuisine. I was in Portugal because i was already in love with Brazil, also a major importer of salt cod. Portuguese and Brazilian foods are quite similar in many respects, and have absolutely nothing in common with the beauty of French food. Now that i have elected to live in Brazil, my great desire is to recreate Brazilian food with French influence and attention to detail. Yep, that's about it.
