About me
I am from Biirmingham, AL and grew up eating traditional southern cuisine. In my twenties I was a flight attendant for United Airlines. I lived in Chicago, and San Francisco, and flew to all the major cities. I was exposed to many cuisines, and a whole new outlook on food, and cooking. I prefer eating fresh vegetables and fruits, along with some fish, chicken, and turkey, and some dairy. Simple recipes with fresh ingredients are my favorite. Watching Food Network and the Cooking channels has been, and continues to be a learning process. My favorite older cooking shows are Julia Child and Two Fat Ladies, both rich in cooking techniques and humor. My current favorites are Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, Paula Deene, Sandra Lee. I enjoy sharing recipes and food with my family and friends.
Cooking Influences
I learned to cook from my mother, and her mother, both skilled cooks. My mother made good spaghetti and meatballs, beef vegetable soup, pot roast and fried chicken. My grandmother's talent was baking. She made the best poundcake, brownies and biscuits I have ever tasted. Other influences incude the Food Network, and Cooking channels.
