I am a restaurateur and owner of two Des Moines eateries—South Union Bread Café and Centro. Both restaurants are housed in the restored Temple for Performing Arts at 10th & Locust in downtown Des Moines. My initial business endeavor and first culinary love is South Union Bakery, the first bakery to provide artisan bread to Iowa.
As a chef and restaurant owner, I am passionate about finding the best ingredients to create good food for my guests.
I was raised in an Italian family on the city’s east side, and knew the power of good food in strengthening bonds among family, friends and business associates. My education in the restaurant trade began in several of Des Moines’ well known restaurants, such as the former City Grill, Winston’s and the Embassy Club.
I am hosing a one hour show on KFMG 99.1 every Saturday morning at 10am called "The Kitchen Insider." It features casual converstaion about food, drink, and the good life.
