So who am I? I'm the witty personality behind Simply Trini Cooking: a blog that features the cuisine and culture of the island of Trinidad and Tobago. Trini cooking embodies cooking from the ethnic groups that inhabit the island and then some. There are basically five groups African, East Indian, Chinese, European (i.e. French, Spanish, English, Portuguese etc), Amerindian and Syrian Lebanese: each with there own style of cooking...Now fast forward 500 or so years where cultures have merged to form this plural society in which I am a part. Cooking takes on a different twist, than that of the respective "mother lands", and now has a distinct spirit of its own. As for trini cooking and culture, they both go hand in hand here in Trinidad and Tobago where traditions still run deep and permeate everyday life.
Oh! as I always tell everyone, I prefer you get to know me. It's better that way!
